On a normal day, your panels power your home and top up the battery. In the evening, the battery can cover some of your use with stored solar. When the grid goes down, the system disconnects from it safely and keeps your backed-up circuits on, recharging whenever the sun is up.

How long will a battery keep my home running?
It depends on the battery size and what's on. Essentials like lights, the fridge and Wi-Fi can often run through a night, and the panels recharge the battery on sunny days, so it can keep going through a multi-day outage.
Can I add a battery to solar panels I already have?
Often yes. It depends on your existing inverter and system. We can look at what you have and tell you what's involved.
Is a battery the same as a generator?
No. A battery is silent, needs no fuel and recharges from the sun. A generator can run longer at higher loads but needs fuel and maintenance. Some homes use both.
